About Hoshen

Hoshen's purpose is to fight stereotypes regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. We believe that a meaningful change can only happen through education and increased awareness.

Throughout the 90's, "Hoshen" (the Hebrew acronym meaning “Education and Change")   acted as the Information and Education Center of the AGUDA. In 2004, due to significant growth, Hoshen recognized as an independent Non-Profit nationwide organization, focusing on Public Education regarding GLBT awareness.

Hoshen's purpose is to fight stereotypes regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. We believe that a meaningful change can only happen through education and increased awareness, and so we focus our activities on high school students and staff but over the years we expanded our target audience in order to address the requests for Hoshen's activities from other organizations. Every year, over 250 GLBT conduct 700 educational activities, which reach an audience of nearly 300,000 people that aimed at many different target audiences: high school students and teachers, university students, police officers, soldiers, medical staff and social workers.

In addition, we annually host several training sessions for our own facilitators, as well as conferences for caregivers and other professionals. We also conduct our own research projects to continue improving our ability to get the message across.

HOSHEN'S VISION AND MISSION

Our Vision: We envision a world in which GLBT people can live their lives fully, freely expressing their entire selves and their identities as full and equal members of society.
Our Mission: To serve as an educational center working towards meaningful change in the way Israeli society views sexual and gender diversity, in order to achieve equality for GLBT people in all areas of life.
